Aaku ("Aaku," "we," "us," or "our") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal information.

  • the Aaku website;
  • the Aaku mobile applications;

2. What Aaku does

Aaku provides a travel companion service that helps users create, adapt, organize, and follow travel itineraries and receive context-aware trip assistance before and during travel.

Because the Services involve itinerary generation, trip organization, preferences, and location-aware features, we may process information you provide directly, information generated through your use of the Services, and certain device or location data as described below.

3. Information we collect

A. Information you provide directly. This may include:

  • your name;
  • email address;
  • phone number;
  • login credentials or authentication information;
  • profile information;
  • account preferences;
  • travel preferences and interests;
  • trip details, such as destinations, dates, pace, interests, companions, dietary preferences, accessibility needs, must-do items, and avoid items;
  • itinerary content you create, edit, save, or import;
  • messages, prompts, requests, and other content you submit to Aaku;
  • survey responses, feedback, or support communications; and
  • any other information you choose to provide.

B. Information collected automatically. When you use the Services, we may automatically collect certain technical and usage information, such as:

  • device type;
  • operating system;
  • browser type;
  • app version;
  • IP address;
  • language and time zone;
  • device identifiers;
  • approximate location inferred from IP address;
  • app events, feature interactions, and usage logs;
  • crash reports, diagnostics, and performance data; and
  • referral data and basic analytics information.

C. Location information. If you grant permission, we may collect your foreground location while you are actively using the app or relevant Service features.

We use location data to support location-aware trip guidance, help you understand where you are in relation to your itinerary, and improve journey execution features.

We do not collect precise location in the background unless we clearly disclose that separately and obtain any required consent.

D. Content you import or upload. You may choose to provide trip-related content such as:

  • notes;
  • screenshots;
  • pasted text;
  • itinerary content;
  • planning inputs; and
  • other travel-related materials.

We process this information to provide the Services, including itinerary generation, trip refinement, summaries, organization, and contextual assistance.

E. Information from third parties. If you sign in using a third-party service such as Google, we may receive certain information from that provider, subject to your settings with that provider and the permissions you grant.

This may include your name, email address, profile identifier, and basic account profile information.

4. How we use your information

We may use your information to:

  • provide, operate, maintain, and improve the Services;
  • create and manage your account;
  • authenticate users and secure accounts;
  • generate, organize, adapt, and present itineraries;
  • provide trip planning and context-aware trip assistance;

5. AI and itinerary-related processing

Aaku uses software systems, including automated systems and AI-supported functionality, to help generate, revise, organize, and explain itineraries and trip content.

This means that information you submit, such as trip details, preferences, prompts, edits, and imported content, may be processed to:

  • generate suggested itineraries;
  • revise trip structures;
  • provide travel recommendations;
  • answer questions about a trip;
  • summarize or organize trip content; and
  • support in-product companion features.

AI-generated or automated outputs may not always be accurate, complete, or suitable for every situation. Users remain responsible for reviewing itineraries, checking important real-world details, and exercising independent judgment during travel.

6. Legal bases for processing

Where applicable law requires a legal basis for processing personal information, we may rely on one or more of the following:

  • performance of a contract with you;
  • your consent;
  • our legitimate interests, such as operating and improving the Services, preventing fraud, and securing the Services; and
  • compliance with legal obligations.

7. How we share information

We do not sell your personal information in the ordinary meaning of the word "sell."

We may share information in the following circumstances:

A. Service providers. We may share information with vendors, contractors, cloud providers, analytics providers, customer support tools, communications providers, authentication providers, and other service providers that process information on our behalf.

Deleting your account may result in deletion or deactivation of your profile, trip history, itineraries, preferences, and related information, subject to any information we need to retain for legal, security, fraud-prevention, backup, or compliance purposes.

Our website and online services may use cookies, SDKs, pixels, local storage, and similar technologies to:

  • keep you signed in;
  • remember preferences;
  • measure traffic and usage;
  • improve functionality;
  • understand performance; and
  • support security and fraud prevention.
